Gran Canaria Hike #4: Roque Bentayga

Taking a hike around Roque Bentayga, the big rock you see from everywhere in Tejeda, that was the plan.

I was moving fairly slow this morning and got a late start. I had it in my head that today was going to be an “easy” day. Of course, once I started to hike down into the caldera yet again the thought came up, “who thinks this is easy?” Not only did I feel no one had hiked this particular route in quite some time due to the massive overgrowth and blockages on the path. At one point I literally was on hands and knees crawling under brush hoping there was a path on the other side.

Then there is also the truth that once I hike down into the ravine, I have to hike back up the other side, and that felt anything but “easy.”

Doable is not always easy, right?

Anyway, I felt like hiking down and up once was enough vs. taking the path that then goes back down and back up to get home. I made the easy decision to just trek the circular route around the top of the caldera to get back to town early for a hot bath and some yummy food and local wine. I applaud myself for this decision!!

7km/4.5m today gives me 59km/36.5m in 4 days.

I came upon this boulder on this beautiful Easter Sunday, and I stopped and sat and meditated on my tribe. As most of you know...home, for me, is not a physical location. I find home in my heart, exactly where I carry you all. Thank you for being on this journey with me and always letting me know I am not alone, it truly means the world. My vision for each of you is for you to experience ease & grace, true care & kindness, and an abundance of blessings on your journey every day. I am with you in Spirit and sending you so much love from my HEART!!!
