Varenna, Lake Como
I met Marina in Milan on Friday night and we took the 1 hour train ride to Varenna on Saturday morning.
Varenna is a small medieval village on Lake Como's eastern shore, overlooking the towns of Bellagio and Menaggio. Apparently it’s been a coveted destination since Roman times. It’s long been on my destination list so I am excited to spend the week exploring this village and lake as well as all the gems of the surrounding areas. We arrived late morning, checked into our Airbnb, and then set off in search of Prosecco...with great success!
It turns out the Airbnb we stayed in was in the IDEAL location. Out on a point with views of the lake from every window and balcony. It was just steps from the cafes and pubs that line the shore and walking to every area of town. Perfection.
