Tenerife: Coastal Hike to Alcala

Time to start exploring the surrounding areas from Los Gigantes by taking an epic 8 mile hike south through 4 villages, along roads, paths, beaches and promenades. A random rainbow thrown in for luck and home in time for a sundowner on my deck.

Walking from my Airbnb in Los Gigantes, I hiked down the hill and found the promenade starting in the neighborhood known as Crab Island and walked south.  It’s a lovely walk along the coastline, on promenades, streets, up & down hills, and finally getting a bit off the beaten path and onto a trail.

I walked through Playa Chica, Puerto de Santiago, Playa de la Arena (pictured with the stakes for social distancing in 2020 Covid 19 times), Playa La Jaquita, all the way to Playa de Alcala.  Alcala have 3 small but very cozy beaches and they are not like sand, but small lava stones.  Lots of cafes along the promenade here.  I highly recommend just getting out walking and exploring, there is plenty to see and do.

The coastline is gorgeous! Just hug the coast and you’ll find your way.
