Chamonix: Chalet de la Floria

After pushing through 8.5 miles of high altitude hiking yesterday, I figured I’d stay a little lower in altitude and aim for an easier hike. Today, I decided to just walk out the door of the chalet I am staying, make my way across town, then hike through the woods, up the mountain, to end up at a mountain lodge for lunch.

This hike was lower in altitude, and it’s rated easier than yesterday, but whoo-whee I for sure was sucking some air on the way up. Apparently, I missed the part where it said it was a fairly steep hike at times!  All I read was, Chalet de la Floria Restaurant, a stunningly beautiful flower-filled terrace with panoramic view.

Well it was worth it, to be sure. This is a must do hike close to town.

The terrace has epic sweeping views of the valley floor and the entire Mont Blanc mountain range. I am getting use to this view…in the very best of ways. It’s what I see when I look out from my patio and even lying in my bed. I still managed to put in almost 6 miles of mountain hiking on my “easy” day.  I am just sayin’, their definition of easy and my definition of easy are very, very different.
