Austria: Das Moser Hotel, Faaker See
Austria Road Trip Day 1: Yayyyyy..so excited to be on an adventure and road tripping to Austria!! My friend Krisztina is at the wheel driving us from Budapest, Hungary to Faaker See (lake), Austria to do some awesome hiking for 5 days. The drive takes about 5.5 hours. Crossing the Border with Covid restrictions can take longer yet we had no queues whatsoever and they barely checked paperwork.
We found a super artsy, very beautiful place to stay on the lake. Das Moser, Hotel am See.
Faaker See is 10 km from Villach, Austria…a lovely village with more options for restaurants and such.
“Das Moser” in on the lakefront of the Faaker See. The lake is renown for it’s beautiful blue color as well as being so incredibly clean you can drink from it. Villach, the next larger town, is 8km away, and this area is on the border of Italy and Slovenia.
There is a small beach and boat dock with stairs down into the clear, cold water.
Sunsets, moon rises, morning light...it’s hard to take in all this beauty. The view is lovely at all times day or night.
When I commented on all the artwork throughout the grounds to Christiane Moser, the owner who is there all day every day running the place, she said it changes every season. The grounds are perfectly manicured and the gardens were just beautiful.
