Day 41: Vilaserío - Logoso, 24.6 km.
Leaving our hostess and lovely albergue this morning took a bit of time as we delayed over cafe con leche, pictures, and hugs. It was a beautiful, misty morning and we became further delayed meandering along our route by our fascination with dew drops hanging like jewels from the grass and flowers.
We had an early lunch after taking hours to walk just 8km. From there we walked into the sunshine and warmth of the day. This part of Galicia is full of farmers known to be deeply rooted to the land and we saw hard work going on everywhere. We continue to hike the steep, rolling hills, climb mountains, as well as enjoy walking in brief periods of shade on lovely wooded paths.
We were making our way through our last 5 km with a specific destination in mind. The town 2 km before, Logoso, was quiet and charming yet we wanted to get as close to Finisterre as possible. Once again a Camino angel, who spoke no English and seemed to appear out of thin air, communicated clearly that the place we were heading was off the route and not a good choice. She saved us from making a 16 km mistake. She then showed us to a lovely room for 3, picked up our laundry to wash and dry, and sent us to the showers with a hug. I am overwhelmed with the kindness of the wonderful local people who go beyond to show true care. I also love how well we all communicate...laughter and love flowing continuously, even though "mi español es poco."
Tomorrow...we reach the end of the earth!
