Day 34:  Portomarin - Palas de Rei, 24.7 km.

The Camino is getting crowded. We left earlier then usual and still could see peregrinos in both directions. The refreshment stops are crowded and the baños have longer lines.  We will be in Santiago in a few days so there are many more day-packers now, many shiny new penny's. There is a Camino lesson here...to choose humility, patience and graciousness knowing no ones Camino is superior to anyone else's.  Did I mention how much noisier it is, and there are walkers on phones?!? Oh my!!

Galicia is hill country and our last 3 mornings have had significant uphill climbs right from the start. Today's lasted past our first place to stop...7.5 km into the walk. We earned our first cafe con leche!!

Even with the added crowds we have decided to trust The Camino to continue to provide a place to sleep so have not booked ahead.  As we walked into town a man was just locking up the church. We asked to see inside, he agreed and then offered to stamp our pilgrim's credential with what he promised to be "the 2nd best stamp on The Way."  He then personally walked us to his recommended lodging and we are now in a darling room with a bathtub!  Camino angels abound!!!
