Day 25: Villar de Mazarife - Astorga, 29.3 km.

We were up and out early this morning since we had a lot of kilometers to cover. It was a beautiful sunrise and the weather was warm and dry with a high of 24C/75F. The first 1/2 was an easy, flat walk with the second 1/2 getting into rolling hills and a continual change of scenery.

The Meseta is clearly behind us now and the mountains in front of us get closer with every passing hour. With great little villages, a 13th century medieval bridge (one of the best examples in Spain), another magical peregrino oasis aka Angel Stop on top of a steep hill, and a destination with a beautiful cathedral and Antonio Gaudi's amazing neo-Gothic Bishops Palace. All in all, it was a very fun and full day.

The longest walking day so far, in my journey, and I'm happy to share I entered town with a decent stride feeling quite good about myself. I closed the day with my Fitbit saying I walked 45,000 steps equaling 20 miles. My personal best.
