Novi Sad Food, Drink & Street Art
My friend Krisztina and I are both on our first trip to Serbia and we were very much looking forward to exploring the old town and surroundings of Novi Sad. Our 3 hour road trip from Budapest took over 5 hours with 45 minutes at the border crossing and major challenges with parking. What we didn’t know at this time is the 45 minutes at the border was a blessing. On our return trip driving back to Budapest I put my timer on when we got to the border and turned it off when we were driving out. 3 hours, 59 minutes, and 24 seconds. Good thing I have tools to choose peace and patience not to mention some good podcasts.
Now, back to our arrival in the fair city of Novi Sad. Our first stop after checking in at the tiny studio apartments was to go in search of food & drink and we found Petrus Gastro Bar. It was lovely, delicious, and very fun!! Over the weekend we became more and more impressed with how much of a design element could be found everywhere in all the cafes, coffee shops, bars, and restaurants and the quality of the food was outstanding.
Wandering the streets of old town Novi Sad, there is magic to be discovered in the hidden alleyways. I saw a small sign with the logo of 3 wine glasses and followed the sign…down an alley…and into the best educational wine experience imaginable. I entered the tiny shop and met with a passionate wine shop owner who only sells small batch Serbian wines. I knew nothing about Serbian wines, this was such a gift experience!
Vinoteka "Naša Vina".
We had the best dinner at Fish & Zeleniš. I was super excited about it…check out the write up. It was yummy and very fun!
“If you are a fan of Mediterranean cuisine, quality local wine and relaxed atmosphere, go ahead – this is the place for you! Our menu is authentic, based on the Mediterranean style of cooking, based on fresh fish, seafood, organic vegetables, homemade pasta, Greek and Dalmatian appetizers, salads, olive oil and Mediterranean spices. It’s great for vegetarians, people who are fasting and eating low-calorie food, but who are also true gourmets. Our food is perfectly paired with local wines from famous wine cellars of Fruska Gora and its monasteries.”
AND of course, there was some street art to be found, admired, and captured in pictures. You know I how I love me some street art!!
