Anker't Ruin Pub
Anker’t Ruin Pub was originally an empty residential building and is very different from other Ruin Pubs. The décor is modern and minimalist yet still maintains the worn and damaged aesthetic elements of the structure. On Sundays, once a month, they earned a place on the map of Budapest’s artisan food markets, with the country’s one and only Sunday Vegan Food Market.
On this beautiful Sunday we are pretending like Spring has Sprung!! Walking over to Anker’t we start seeing outdoor cafes peaking out from behind winter. I’m so happy this vegan festival showed up on this particular lovely, sunny Sunday and called to my heart.
Come on sun, let’s do this!!!
A new wooden shack installed at Anker't called Vegazzi serves plant-based pizza made with authentic Neapolitan and alternative ingredients. Based on the classic Italian 00 flour, the dough is left for leavening for 48 hours. Then the thin-crust treat with a slightly inflated rim comes right from a wood-fired oven, where it’s baked for just 60 to 90 seconds. The flatbread of the pizza is bubbly and charred in spots, a trademark of this genre.
We ordered our pizza, after waiting in a 20 minute line, and was told it would be 50 minutes before it was ready. They sold out right after this, and it took 75 minutes to get our pizza. The good news is...it was YUMMY!! Of course, I was starving. Still, it was wonderful and, to their credit, this was their first Sunday Vegan Market and I am sure they had no idea just how popular they would be. They will also be serving pizza at Anker't every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night.
