Aix-en-Provence: La Plume Végétale

I found the most wonderful restaurant while searching google maps for someplace with great reviews.  Of all the restaurants and cafes in Aix, and there are many, this was the only one with 5 stars.  Imagine my delight when I read it was a vegetarian restaurant.  It’s called La Plume Végétale.

AND imagine my surprise when I then read that it is open just 5 days a week Tues-Sat, and only for 2 hours each day from 1200-1400 (with the exception of Saturday’s hours being slightly longer, 1200-1430).  Now that is an awesome business plan to truly balance life & work!

Needless to say, this went on my Tuesday “must have lunch here” list!!  I met the founder, owner, and chef Alexia and she is just a light, so sweet and sparkly.  (see her story below)

She opened her restaurant at the beginning of 2020…oh my, that was tough timing!  I’m so happy she made it through and still has her doors open serving the most delicious food!  She and La Plume Végétale are awesome!!

In her own words translated to English from French:

“What is the Vegetable Feather (La Plume Végétale)?

La Plume Végétale is a restaurant that welcomes you in the heart of Aix en Provence, in a cozy atmosphere where you will discover 100% homemade cuisine from starter to dessert without forgetting the drinks!

Our priority? Ingredients that do not involve animal exploitation, with a maximum of organic and fair trade products for exotic products or small producers for what grows here!

Who is La Plume Végétale? Enchanté, it's Alexia! It's me who cooks behind the kitchen counter!

I share with you in a friendly atmosphere my passion for vegetarian food! A few years ago I completely changed my diet, I learned to cook differently for the good of the planet, animals, humans and I discovered a vocation I had never suspected until then: cooking! My motivation: to serve you classics in a 100% vegetarian version!

Tiramisu, through the burger, even the drinks go! Plant-based does not mean boring, I promise!
