Day 19: Carrion de los Condes - Terradillos de Templarios, 26.8 km.

Leaving Carrion de los Condes we embarked on a 16km stretch with no villages or water. We were forewarned to carry extra supplies, which we did. As luck would have it, 10 km in, there was another of those magical food trucks there to care for us Peregrinos. I just love these angel stops.

The day was just very long, flat stretches of walking and therefore we carried on at quite a good pace. The first town, 16 km in, had a great outdoor bar and restaurant where we connected with many old, familiar faces including my walking partner from the U.K. Marina. I was thrilled to reconnect with her once again. 2 beers later inclusive of a lovely serenade from a very talented fellow walker, Bryan, Marina and I pushed forward for another 6.2 km to find a fun stop and our requisite vino tinto.

Then onward for another 2.5 km to meet Roland and a lovely donkey (he calls him his best friend) who have done the Camino to AND from Santiago every year since 2013. This is their last year. We stopped for the night in a town reputed to have belonged to the Knights Templar, Terradillos de Templarios. We are staying in a lovely albergue with laundry facilities...a luxury as sumptuous as the red wine we are drinking!!!
