Day 16: Hornillos Del Camino - Castrojeriz, 20.1km.

In the last 2 days we have been walking through an area called the Meseta, characterized by wide open spaces, more fields of grain, no hills to speak of, and little to no shade. Yesterday evening and night there was rain. We lucked out and had completed our walk before the weather came in. Today was partly cloudy with a strong, cold wind for much of the day.

The paths were easy on the feet, although somewhat muddy, and the ups and downs were rare and quite user friendly. The villages we've stayed in and walked through on this portion of the Camino are tiny, some as small as 66 inhabitants. Castrojeriz has 900, so it's quite the bustling little place. Tonight, at our Albergue, there was a wine tasting in the medieval cellar below the building. CHEERS!!! 🍷🍷
