Day 14: Day off in Burgos

After 2 weeks on the road, a day off in Burgos means many things. First, it means it’s the first morning in weeks I’ve not woken up and reloaded my backpack. It also means I had the experiencing of walking around all day without carrying 12kg/27lbs on my back. That felt really odd. An added bonus is I slept in, and had a leisurely morning, which I’ve not done in what seems like forever. All this feels odd, like I am suppose to be doing something but playing hooky instead.

A day off in Burgos also means laundry, a tour of the Cathedral (which is spectacular), wine with a leisurely lunch and then a 1.5 hour nap. Not to mention lots of foot care. I’ve discovered that having a bath tub may be the best treat imaginable for a body that has been backpacking in the elements all day every day. So the day also includes another hot bath and a good nights sleep and then it's off to the pilgrimage once more.

Week 2 update:  13 days on the Camino, 291.5 km/181 miles, Fitbit 337km/209.11 miles. Day 14, 0.0 Camino km/mi since it's my first day OFF!!!!
